Unexpected teenage stage #342: they walk around the house with ipod on, singing, I think that's what we'll call it, and looking at themselves in the mirror; have I not told the boy how handsome he is enough this week- now he's gotta look for himself every 5 minutes?

If he had his shirt off and was flexing his abs, or curling his arm to check out his biceps then I would say completely natural. Not to completely dis your complements, but a mother's statement of "handsomeness" carries little weight in a teenagers mind - all mom's think their kids are good looking. What you need to do is find some knock out 17-year-old and have her say it. Now that would be an ego boost for him.
